The Foundation Yoga Course

Introduction

This 10 day course, spread over five monthly weekends of which two are full board residential (included in the course fee), is aimed at yoga students who wish to deepen their practice, knowledge and experience.

The course offers a broad base of practices from which yoga students can enrich and develop their yoga life skills.

It is also a prerequisite for the Teacher Training Course (if the other requirements are not met). The course is 68 taught hours and comprehensive course manuals are provided.

Areas of study include:

  • Preliminary exercises
  • Asanas - yoga postures
  • Kriyas: exercises to cleanse and purify the internal organs and to strengthen the immune system using breath and bandha only
  • Pranayama: breathing exercises to retain and extend the flow of vital energy
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Basic meditations
  • Mudras and Bandhas: psychological processes acting on the nervous and subtle energy systems
  • Introduction to Subtle Anatomy: Chakras, Koshas, Nadis, theoretical and practical understanding
  • Basic Anatomy and Physiology
  • Yoga Philosophy: Patanjali Yoga Sutra, Ashtanga (eight-fold path), Kleshas and introduction to classical texts
  • Mantra: chanting sound vibrations
  • Dietary guidelines: Ayurvedic and naturopathic approaches
  • Two comprehensive course manuals provided

Course dates 2017 (5 weekends) - FULLY BOOKED

February 4-5, March 3-5  (Residential), April 1-2, April 22-23, May 12-14 (Residential).

Course dates 2018 (5 weekends)

January 27-28, February 23-25 (Residential), March 24-25, April 14-15, May 18-20 (Residential).

Course fees

Total course fee for 2017 is £980. The £980 includes the deposit to confirm a place which is £380. The breakdown of the £980 is as follows: tuition £640 and residentials £340. The total course fee for 2018 is to be confirmed.

The residential fee includes 4 nights full board accommodation over two long weekends of Friday to Sunday and includes all meals and drinks from arrival to departure on each weekend.

Other than no absolute beginners, there are no prerequisites for the course beyond enthusiasm and commitment for self-growth and enhancing awareness.

On completion of the course a certificate is awarded.
